ABOS Maintenance of Certification SAE Requirement

The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) has announced the elements of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process. As part of the Lifelong Learning component of the MOC, a diplomate of the Board must acquire 120 Category 1 Continuing Medical Education credits during each of two three-year cycles. Of those 120 Category 1 credits, 20 credits must have been acquired by successfully completing a self-assessment examination (SAE).

JBJS is pleased to announce that our electronic quarterly general CME examination has been approved by the ABOS as a self-assessment examination. Thus, with each successful completion of an online general quarterly examination, you can claim up to 10 Category 1 CME credits toward your three-year requirement of 120 credits. Importantly, these 10 credits can also be claimed by you to help fulfill the requirement of 20 SAE credits during the same cycle

We believe that you will find the online quarterly general examination to be a useful, enjoyable, and convenient educational tool as you participate in the MOC process.
